Altura would like to congratulate Broadcom Corporation on yet another stellar corporate sustainability achievement.  In its US 500 Greenest Companies list, Newsweek recently ranked Broadcom 80th out of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the US for sustainability performance. This puts Broadcom in the top 16th percentile of major companies for its focused efforts to reduce energy, water, waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental metrics.

This is an incredible achievement for Broadcom, representing a 79% improvement from its initial rank of 376 in 2009. Contributing to Broadcom’s success are strong energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, as well as strong performance in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) Investor Survey, where Broadcom increased its Disclosure Score by 92% from 2009 to 2013.

Broadcom’s results show that a combination of strategic planning, effective stakeholder engagement, executive commitment, and long-term focus on sustainability can pay big dividends in a relatively short amount of time. The company has made energy efficiency and environmental performance a priority and integrated sustainability into the corporate strategy.  Not only do these results provide bottom-line improvements (savings through energy efficiency, for example), but they also enhance the company’s competitive advantage in the ICT industry, which helps attract and retain discerning employees, customers, and investors.

Every company has a different starting point, and we would be happy to discuss where your company is positioned and how we might be able to help bring your organization’s corporate sustainability program to the next level.  Please give me a call to discuss.
